Coming to the last league match of the 12th edition of the vivo IPL, Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to field first in Wankhade. Kolkata went off to a good start as Lynn looked very good who powered the innings in Power play with his 41 off 29 balls. Shubman Gill and Lynn fell in quick succession to Hardik Pandya and then KKR’s innings went no where in the middle overs.
Especially Uthappa failed miserably who ended up the innings scoring just 40 runs in 47 balls. He played 25 dot balls which costed KKR big time. Their lead performer throughput the season, Andre Russell gone for a Diamond Duck and Rana’s handy 26 off 13 fetched them 133 runs on the board.
Chasing a easy-peasy total n their home ground, Rohit and Decock were untroubled by KKR bowlers they scored 46 runs for the first wicket in the Power play. After Decock edged one to Karthik, skipper Rohit Sharma was accompanied by young surya Kumar Yadav. Rohit scored his half century and Yadav finished things in hurry to hand Mumbai a 9 wicket emphatic win.
With this, KKR turned back their way home as SRH becomes the first team in the history of IPL to qualify for play-offs with 12 points. Hardik Pandya was awarded the ‘Man of the match’ for his game changing spell.
