Telangana gives a shock to KCR : Downfall of arrogance

No one saw this coming as BJP sprang a surprise in Telangana. People definitely wanted to teach a lesson to TRS as they felt arrogant leadership is toxic.

TRS was able to win only 9 MP seats out of 16, while  the BJP won four and Congress three. With BJP winning four seats, Congress taking three seats, It definitely looks like TRS has lost its hold on the state.

The results were an immense blow for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and its chief KCR, who worked for the formation of “Federal Front”, a non-BJP, non-Congress front.

It’s shocking for the KCR that its party could not achieve the objective of sweeping Telangana.

TRS aimed to sweep 17 seats with its ally AIMIM but the BJP and Congress battered the TRS’s plans in seven constituencies.

KCR’s daughter Kavitha couldn’t even keep her seat in Nizamabad. The result is startling as it came just six months after it retained power in Telangana with a landslide victory, winning 88 seats in 119-member assembly.

Kavitha, lost in Nizamabad to Dharmapuri Aravind of BJP.  Nizamabad grabbed the headlines during elections when 185 candidates filed their nomination. Among the 185, 178 are farmers who entered the fray demanding a remunerative price for turmeric and red jowar.

Uttham Kumar Reddy from Nalgonda, Komatreddy Venkat Reddy from Bhuvanagiri and Revanth Reddy from Malkajgiri won on Congress tickets. They all were forced into oblivion after the big set back in assembly elections. For Congress, it’s a huge face saver. To be honest, it’s very hard to expect anything good soon from Congress, as the current lot is all about power mongering rather than making a real difference in todays politics.

Ranjith Reddy, the TRS candidate, won from Chevella LS, defeating Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, of Congress. Ranjit Reddy got 14,400 votes on the candidate for the congress.

Khammam’s TRS candidate, Nama Nageshwar Rao, won the fray with a comfortable majority of 1.60 lakh votes. TRS candidate M Srinivas Reddy won the polls from Mahabubnagar LS seat and defeated BJP candidate DK Aruna and Congress Vamshichand Reddy.

Other TRS candidates won are N Venkateshwarlu from Peddapally by winning 78096 votes on Chandrasekhar candidate for Congress. Also winning TRS leaders are Warangal’s P Dayakar, Medak’s K Prabhakar Reddy with 3,11,322 votes and Nagar Kurnool’s P Ramulu respectively.
