All-rounder Vijay Shankar, who is part of India’s 15-member squad for World Cup, has responded to Ambati Rayudu’s ‘Just ordered a new set of 3D glasses to watch the World Cup’ tweet. “I know how a cricketer would feel if he is not picked. He didn’t mean anything bad. He just tweeted for the sake of it,” Shankar said.
Ambati Rayudu was pretty much a part of the plans for the mega event and everyone expected him to be selected. However, the selectors opted for Vijay Shankar instead and mentioned that they’d try the all-rounder at number four position. Right until the end of last year, Rayudu was a frontrunner for this position.
Rayudu struggled both in Australia and New Zealand as well as in the home series in India. Except for a 90 that he scored in New Zealand, there wasn’t any notable performance from him. Thus, the selectors were forced to axe him from the squad and named him a backup player instead.
Meanwhile, Recalling Nidahas Trophy 2018 final wherein he missed four straight deliveries in the 18th over and was trolled for it, all-rounder Vijay Shankar said it was quite embarrassing for him. He added he was under a lot of stress and couldn’t sleep for a few days. It took me a week to come out of that, he stated.
