Pant to replace injured Dhawan in World Cup!

Team Indian dashing young batsman, Rishabh Pant gets lucky as opener Shikhar Dhawan was injured and was ruled out of World Cup for three weeks. Pant is now all set to go to England as cover. Dhawan’s thumb fracture during Australia’s match is being monitored and he will be in England.

The BCCI in a statement said: “Team India opening batsman Dhawan is presently under the observation of the BCCI medical team. The team management has decided that Dhawan will continue to be in England and his progress will be monitored. Dhawan sustained an injury on the back of his left hand in the region between the index finger and thumb during the league match against Australia on Sunday.”

Pant is expected to join the team on Wednesday ahead of the game against the Kiwis at the Trent Bridge and will train as well. But, Pant won’t be considered as replacement till team management takes a final call on Dhawan’s availability. Initially, during the World Cup selection, every one thought Pant’s journey to England would be a cake walk but to everyone’s surprise, Vijay Shankar sacked him sealing his ticket.
