MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav scored 57 runs in 84 balls in the final phase of the Indian innings against Afghanistan on Saturday. Their slow batting didn’t avert Sachin Tendulkar’s notice either. Sachin Tendulkar criticised MS Dhoni for scoring just 28 runs off 52 balls considering its effect on the entire match.
“MS Dhoni is a senior player and should show positive intent. He faced too many dot balls and this hampered a strong finish for India,” he said. He opined that Dhoni Dhoni needs to up his ante. In that maytch, India captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat but the Men in Blue’s performance with the willow was nowhere near their previous shows in the tournament.
One may argue that the other batsman also failed on that slow pitch but Virat Kohli’s 67 runs in just 63 balls showcased that the effort could’ve been better. More ever, that was the first time Indian middle-order was put under test and they have done well to stop the flurry of wickets but failed to score runs at a brisk pace.
