The State Government of Telangana is likely to rename Warangal Urban as Hanamkonda just over three years after the reorganization of Telangana districts. It has been on the cards for quite a while now.
Indeed, the government announced the district of Hanamkonda as it started reorganizing districts in 2016. The proposal was rejected however, due to strong resentment from different organizations.
In the process, it’s also being said that Warangal Rural will be named back to just Warangal and Warangal East constituency will included in the new Warangal(Warangal Rural) district.
The news comes out as Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Minister for Panchayat Raj and an MLA from Warangal had suggested few days ago about the same.
On Monday, even Warangal East MLA Nannapuneni Narender made a passionate appeal to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to rename the Rural District as Warangal and as well as to include Warangal East under it.
Speaking to media on Monday, Narender stressed that Warangal rural and urban districts need to be renamed Warangal and Hanamkonda so as to satisfy the very concept of creating smaller districts.
In reply to a question, Narender said that although in the past the people had objected to the districts of Warangal and Hanamkonda, the mood of the people was clearly changed. Now, he said, they want Warangal East as the headquarters of their district.
